TWO SONGS SPRUNG TO GREET SPRING – ALTHOUGH TRUTHFULLY GESTATED UNDER COVER OF FROST AND SNOW

Anyway, they are getting sprung here and now.. The first is reminiscent of my big band boyhood and youth.

The second is a true bagatelle and in my view is a candidate for service as an early piano student piece, more tuneful than most in that category.  Whaddya think?

Apologies as always for the miscues and low quality of recording.  Think of this as a workshop! Responses please.

SATURDAY NIGHT MEANDERINGS

Just had some fun setting up then dismantling a crazy kind of music studio.  Imagine me on a ‘perch stool’ set at an angle to the Yamaha electronic keyboard (my fractured femur does not allow me to sit straight), the laptop on an adjacent chair and the microphone nearby, my Audacity software in motion.

It is Saturday night in Gourock, Scotland , and being housebound by my fracture,, I feel even more empathy with that fine song, “Saturday Night Is the Loneliest Night of the Week.”  Not because I am alone – my sister Morag is just down the hall.   But just because it is Saturday night, that kind  of special night of the week, at least in my experience.

So I reminisce at the keyboard with two ‘Old Standards.’.

Or as I like to say, I compose and decompose at the keyboard.

And as you will hear, a few wrong notes slip in.  Well I have yet to set up a portable mastering device!

Hope you are having a fine Saturday night, wherever you are.

And while you are listening, you can be wishing me well re.  my recent 83rd birthday.-ho-hum!

SO WHERE’S THE MUSIC??

.    Today I will begin an occasional upload of some of my other music.   Here are a couple of piano pieces for starters, mere bagatelles, as are many of my tunes. But I hope pleasing to your ears.  I will bore you with an explanation of my approach to creating music in a couple of days.

All my stuff was done on a Korg 01W fd keyboard.

The two pieces are tentatively titled for this occasion, “I Love Endings, Don’t You?” and “Contemplation.” Both are copyrighted in the USA Library of Congress under the title Collected Works of Neil MacCormick PAu 2=372-268 I/15/1999. Internet pirates, take note!
