A DREAM OFFSHORE BANKING IDEA

Beginning back in the 1960s, my employer,  Bankers Trust Company, was engaging in a number of overseas ventures. And we young turks all got caught up in the notion of foreign postings. After the first week of a 1967 family vacation on the beautiful island of Nantucket, offshore Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I came up with the idea of a kind of boomerang foreign deal. One of the bank’s overseas subsidiaries would invest in a Nantucket bank and I would become the highly paid Bankers Trust representative on the island. I even went so far as to design a seasonal ‘uniform of the day’ for my new position. n dressed for beach bankNantucket - Copy Unfortunately, US banking law and more prudent minds at the bank thwarted my plan.. But it was otherwise a memorable vacation!
